Pharmacist Oath Taking – Batch of XXXII

PR- Faculty of Pharmacy USU – The Pharmacists Oath Taking, Batch of XXXII was held on Saturday (24/9) at the 2nd floor of Faculty of Pharmacy USU hall, and can be watched on Pharmacy USU Youtube. The Pharmacist Oath-taking activity was attended by all students whose oath will be taken, the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy USU and the Vice Deans, the Head and the Secretary of the Study Program, professors and lecturers within the Faculty of Pharmacy USU. The Oath Taking agenda was also presented by the Vice Chancellor III representing the Chancellor USU, the representative of the Advisory Council Faculty of Pharmacy USU, the representative of the Pharmaceutical Council, the representative of the Central Board of the Indonesian Pharmacists Association (PP IAI), the representative of the Health Office of North Sumatra Province, Head of the Regional Agency of Food and Drug Control (BBPOM-Medan), Chairman of the Indonesian Pharmacists Association Regional Board-North Sumatera (PD IAI), Director of H. Adam Malik Hospital Medan, the representative of Dr. Pirngadi Hospital Medan, the representative of PT. Kimia Farma Apotek Business Manager, clergy, as well as parents of new pharmacist candidates.

The procession was officially opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy USU, apt. Khairunnisa, S.Si., M.Pharm., Ph.D. The Pharmacist oath ceremony reading was led by the the representative of Pharmaceutical Council Chairman and followed by all new Pharmacist Candidates who are accompanied by clergy from every religion.

Presented by the Head of the Pharmacist Professional Education Study Program, apt. Dadang Irfan Husori, S.Si., M.Sc. on the report:

- The number of First Taker Students participating in Indonesian Pharmacist Competency Test UKAI for the July 2022 Period: 80 students

- The number of Graduates: 73 students

- Percentage passed: 91.25%

- The number of Oath Participants: 80 students, consisting of 50 Muslims, 19 Protestant Christians, 4 Catholic Christians, and 7 Buddhists.

- The highest academic achievement (GPA 4.00) was achieved by Wilsen Lianto

- The highest competency test score of 87.00 was achieved by Selvi Arini Hardiyanti

The speech from the new Pharmacist are represented by apt. Khairul Anhar, S. Farm. after taking the Pharmacist's oath. apt. Nelly Murni, S.Si., M.KM represented the Head of the North Sumatra Provincial Health Office. She informed that pharmacists are not only required to provide comprehensive services, but also must be able to become leaders in pharmaceutical sector. Pharmacists must be able to be good partners for other health proffesionals and expert to explain how to use medicines. Furthermore, pharmacists also must consistent in maintaining the dignity of the profession, responsible pharmacy practice and maintain good relationship with other health professionals.

apt. Drs. Agustama, M.Kes appreciated the increase in the UKAI graduation limit value because it showed that graduates are more qualified. He also explained to the new pharmacists about 4 documents to be received. Two of the documents require an extension every 5 years.

The representative of the Pharmaceutical Council, Dr. apt. Gunawan Widjaja, S.H., S.Farm., M.H., M.M., M.KM., M.A.R.S in his speech said that the role of pharmacists by WHO is 9 stars of Pharmacist currently, and the research has become a very important part, but the scientific publication has not become a mandatory aspect of fulfilling SKP by IAI. Furthermore, the entrepreneurs are also important to know the Indonesian pharmacists role in the world.

The Vice Chancellor III, Prof. Dr. apt. Poppy Anjelisa Zaitun Hasibuan, S.Si., M.Si represented the Chancellor of USU emphasized that the role of pharmacists is not only to provide drug information to the public, but also providing the scientific information to doctors regarding the use of a medicine. She also reminded that the professional characteristic is lifelong learning, so it is hoped that new pharmacists can increase their knowledge according to the technology development.
